The most important thing about working with sponsors is that you must believe in each other. Without a doubt, I believe in the Gypsy Cob breeding program that has been built by Dale and Cheryl Nygaard of North Fork Horses. When Dale and Cheryl approached me about taking one of their Gypsy Cobs onto my string of trained horses, I was at a loss for words. Although I had heard of the elusive Gypsy Cob (sometimes called Gypsy Vanner) breed, I had never seen one live, and I had certainly never worked with any of them. I was once again at a loss for words when Dale and Cheryl placed their prized, and rare tri-colored yearling, North
Fork Cash, in my care. In my travels, I have worked with a great
many different breeds of horses, from gaited, to heavy and
everything in between. I have never worked with any horse
(including my own) that has been so easy to train, and so quick
to learn. Cash IS everything that the Gypsy Cob breed promises.
He is smart, versatile, kind, gentle, quiet and has an amazing
capacity to extend his kindness and caution when working
around children (as shown in the picture to the right where he
is cradling a 4H youngster between his front legs in a sit.
When Dale and Cheryl decided to start breeding Gypsy Cobs in Canada, they imported hand-picked stock directly from England. The result of this careful, and meticulous selection, and their attention to unwavering quality, speaks for itself in their brood-mares, stallions, and colts. After working with this fabulous breed, I would definitely not hesitate to own a North Fork Gypsy Cob as they have proven to me to be an all around, reliable and versatile mount for adults and kids alike.
I had the horses and crew at a huge week-long event when all the horses started to stock up. Over the wall Libi Susag, the Oxy-Gen rep, heard my dismay and introduced me to Oxy-GenXtreme. With 4 days left to show, I was willing to try anything to get the horses’ legs back down to normal size. We were in a marathon and they were jumping, rearing, bowing and doing hind legs walks every single day for a schedule of 7 days.
Now, I’m normally a bit of a skeptic when it comes to supplements but, I was willing to try anything. With Libi’s guideance, we fed the horses a dose of Oxy-GenXtreme pellets and I was astounded. Within 3 HOURS the swelling in their pasterns
had reduced completely, and there was no sign that they
had ever stocked up at all. During the rest of that week,
Libi and I continued to administer the Oxy-Gen supplements
and a sponsorship was born. I’ve got Griffin and Avro on
a regular feed schedule of the Oxy-Gen Xtreme. Avro is
my Hind Leg Walk horse, and Griffin is my up-and-
coming. With both horses I’m absolutely concerned about
protecting young, developing joints (in the case of Griffin),
and mature hocks (in the case of Avro). The demands that
I have for both of these horses is extreme and I trust Oxy-Gen products to protect both of them.
Reamo is another proud Oxy-Gen horse. He is my main anchor when it comes to demos and clinics and I need him to have the stamina, endurance and focus of a true competitor. Before every clinic or performance, Reamo gets his treat of Jail Break GI Formula. It takes a certain type of horse to be able to rear over, and over for an excited line of 4H kids and Oxy-Gen gives me the confidence, and assurance, that I’m protecting my anchor so that kids can continue to enjoy trick training with Reamo for MANY years to come.
